'One' is about people seeing the same thing differently. It's about unity or the lack thereof for all the wrong reasons. It goes like this 'See the writings on the walls, they speak of love and not war.' It starts with a message that we should be together and united because we are all the same, one. The second part is about despair and a need to change. The third section represents false hope and denial so it's kinda upbeat. Unfortunately, such songs are as relevant as they were in the 1940s and 70s.
