Strawberry Jam by Kronodigger

The two tracks on the EP are two different takes of an improvisation. They were both recorded live with Andrey Krone back in 2012.
I was responsible for all the synths and melodies, and Andrey was generating and manipulating various drum loops in Stylus RMX mixing those with some other effects.

A cool thing about these tracks is that they were created in pretty traditional way resembling how earlier electronic music was recorded back in the day: artists would launch prepared sequences on their hardware sequencers, manipulate them a bit, play improvisations on some other synths, and all of that would be probably recorded as a mix on some tape machine. What you recorded is what you got in the end.

In our case, the setup was all digital. On my end, I was using Logic 9 session with around 5 tracks (2 samplers, 2 synths, 1 vocoder) running in 2 or 4 measure loop. The tracks were routed into the bus with several tape delays, ring modulator and effectrix module. M-Audo Axiom was used as midi keyboard and Behringer's BCR2000 was used as a midi controller for all the effects.
Mixed output was being recorded unto Roland's digital recorder as a stereo wav file.

Andrey's "drum orchestra" was running in Cubase and recorded right there in the session.

The sync problem was resolved in old-fashioned classical performance way: 1, 2, 3, 4, go! Both play buttons were pressed simultaneously and luckily Logic 9 and Cubase had the same tempo speed running.

The first track "Strawberry Jam" has both synth and drum improvisations mixed and was the result of our second improvisation attempt. The first attempt - something went wrong there either with the recording or with something else, so just the synth part was salvaged and hence named "Strawberry Jam (Ambient Mix)".

These strawberry concoctions were marinating in our basements for the past 12 years and are now finally ready for you to enjoy with a nice fresh piece of bread and a hot cup of coffee.
