A queer hymnal.

Themnal exists because so many queer people were taught that faith required disappearance—or that tenderness was a liability. These hymns are for the ones who left, the ones who stayed, and the ones who are still negotiating what devotion even means after harm. This album doesn’t ask queers to reconcile with religion; it simply offers music that trusts our bodies, honors our survival, and leaves room for love without shame.

Themnal was written for people who still want to sing, pray, or reach for meaning, without pretending everything is fine or forcing belief into a box. These hymns offer simple, embodied prayers for staying open in a tender time, when many are carrying faith quietly and on their own. It’s music meant to be a steady companion.

These hymns work in sanctuaries and living rooms, in worship and in recovery, in ritual and in the car. They are non-binary hymns in the truest sense: holding faith and question, strength and tenderness, personal devotion and communal hope at the same time.

These hymns were written across multiple unceded Indigenous lands, including the ancestral homelands of the Nisenan, Lenape, Patwin, Abenaki and Anikituwagi peoples.
