Thing by Kite Carrier

Thing - the fourth full length album by Kite Carrier dating back to the tracker years - introduces the listener to a more organic sound experience compared to previous releases. While giving hints on the previous effort (Distinctive Noise Factory) about how the sound could evolve, Thing might surprise the listener a bit. It's all artificial of course - as the tunes are put together purely with a tracker software (and the sounds act as instruments, no sampling used) instead of recording live - but the outcome resembles a bit the sound of studio room. To make an exception a couple of more classic tracker sounding tunes are included too.

The album starts with the stagnant rocking title track and continues with more poppy light rock track Lemon Juice. More delight and organic feel is offered on the piano riffed third track Water Woman. Then we continue the journey with a glorious ballad "Two" which balances between hope and melancholia. The middle part of the album offers more electronic sound as the ingeniously titled "Testmod" begins almost without notice and takes the listener to the core tracker sound with it's electric bass line and brave orchestra hit melody pieces. "Models" sounds fresh and pictorial and the seventh track Lot's of Reasons surely gives lot's of things to digest. The latter part of the album returns to the well defined organic sound. Lightning introduces the listener to horn and brass sounds combined with catchy piano and flute melodies. Take It Easy is a cute but respectable little gem on the album. The final track "Dark" is a long eleven minute piece of something between progressive rock, pop and schlager that cognates with the earlier track Lightning.
