"18 Songs: 2012-2015" a collection of beloved Kilbourne songs lost to the Soundcloud Purge. You can follow my new page at soundcloud.com/kilbourne
While Soundcloud is becoming less and less relevant, I was upset when mine was deleted last year. At one time, it was a point of access to an exciting community and archive. Seeing artists I admire have their accounts deleted was unnerving not just at the level of individual loss, but also as a broader erasure (and often whitewashing) of remix-based art forms and cultures (especially club music). It was a reminder of the classism and racism of copyright laws, and a turnaround from the relatively accessible platform Soundcloud had created for showcasing your work.
The majority of "18 Songs" was available on Soundcloud at one time or another; a handful were never released. I am excited to bring them back to life, but I am even more excited by the new material I am working on (: I hope you find this useful.
