The night has become cold and dark. The birds have all flown away in search of warmth, and sounds from outside drifting in have taken on that dull, frost-edged tone of cold air.

This is meant to be heard in remembrance of the green of spring and the tranquil coolness of a midsummer night; a garden for the listener to fall asleep in; a place of retreat and of comfort.

I hope this music finds you sitting on a smooth rock somewhere on the north shore of Lake Superior, looking out over the cold, majestic gloom and wondering what might lurk beneath the waves.
