This piece is possibly a step too far - one step forward, one step back, over and over again. I like the step very much and enjoy doing it - though even I admit that towards the end I was wishing I was nearer the end than I actually was. Never mind. When you do something like this you just reach for Eric Satie's Vexations as a comparison and all is forgiven/understood. "Ah, it's 'Art' is it - so that's all right then" say the expert critics. Yes, but it's rather pretty too, and for me that is much more important.

And as I often feel compelled to say - this isn't just a bit of music looped over and over - though I admit that's probably how it seems - and in music appearances are all that matter. In fact, things move in and out of phase constantly and nothing is ever repeated exactly.
