Once something gets neglected here for more than a few hours then I forget about it completely - and I had no idea that this album has been one of the things lurking in my "drafts" dungeon for oooh-I-have-no-idea-HOW-long. Anyway, this morning it surfaced and I was of course startled to see something that has lots of tiny tracks rather than the huge great lunking clunking lunk of music that I usually do.
Knowing how lazy I am and how I have no patience to spend any time making anything, I can only guess that this album is merely one long piece of my usual random noodlings that I echo'd and stretched and repeated etc and then I just took tiny random snippets from its horrendously long length and pretended (am pretending) that they were each hand-crafted with great tenderness.
But, whatever, I do like it. The photo was taken yesterday in the New Forest. In winter the Forest is 150 square miles of just one gigantic puddle, which sometimes nearly rises to the surface to become bog. The only way to walk around it is to follow the cycle paths - which are almost all made of nice compacted gravel. Obviously these paths have the disadvantage that they are frequented by cyclists - who are always too busy engaging with their technology to ever spare the time to live in the world around them and engage with it and with us.
However, yesterday, in spite of the day's beauty, there was hardly anyone about. I did see a couple of pairs of cyclists, crossing the path ahead or over to one side in the distance. But no one actually passed me and got within "hello"-ing distance. A couple of joggers, a couple of horse riders, some dog-walkers, some real walking walkers - it was a nice day - that sunshine - Brockenhurst to Beaulieu to near Lymington and then back to Brockenhurst, the walk went on too long and I no longer need to do things just to sound impressive - after three hours absolutely anything becomes boring. The briefer the better, I think. Hence this album surfaced on the perfect morning.
recorded can't remember, photo Beaulieu old aerodrome, yesterday
