“Horror Vacui” is the darkest and most introspective chapter in Karmian’s evolution — a descent into the psychological and existential void that hides behind real acts of murder and madness.
Each of the nine songs is inspired by a true story, by Italian murderers whose lives reveal not only violence but the emptiness that breeds it. The record is not about glorifying horror, but about exposing its roots — the vacuum of empathy, meaning, and identity that corrodes the human soul.
Through these portraits, Karmian explore how void and alienation can transform fragility into cruelty, how absence becomes a force that consumes both victim and executioner.
Musically, the album fuses the ferocity of melodic death metal with cinematic tension and lyrical storytelling, blending brutality with reflection, melody with decay.

Each murderer portrayed in Horror Vacui was not chosen for notoriety or brutality, but for the psychological resonance behind their acts.
What connects them is not blood, but emptiness — a shared void that corrodes from within. Some sought redemption through faith or ritual, others through love, beauty, or control. All of them were swallowed by the same nothingness they tried to fill.
For Karmian, these stories are not a morbid fascination but a way to explore what happens when meaning collapses — when the human mind, deprived of purpose and empathy, turns the fear of emptiness into violence.
Each song represents a psychological state, a fragment of that void — from spiritual delusion to erotic obsession, from divine punishment to the madness of control.
Through this descent, Horror Vacui becomes both confession and reflection: a study of the abyss, and a warning that the horror we fear most does not come from outside, but from the vacuum within.

Horror Vacui is a single, continuous investigation of the void — psychological, spiritual, and social. From hospital wards to suburban sects, from the legends of mountain lakes to convents and the hidden rooms of the mind, each track portrays a different way of filling emptiness — through ritual, drugs, ideology, superstition, bodily control, or distorted faith. In all these stories, horror does not come from outside: it grows within, born from the absence of meaning, empathy, and responsibility.
We chose very different murderers and real cases to reveal the same root: fragility that mutates into violence, often legitimized or hidden by a complicit environment — the collective decision “not to see.” For this reason, we give voice not only to the perpetrators but also to the victims and the forgotten, because the void never devours one person alone: it corrodes entire communities, institutions, families, and myths.

Musically, we remain faithful to our language — melodic death metal as a narrative tool capable of merging ferocity and storytelling, impact and memory. Horror Vacui does not glorify evil; it unmasks it, holds it to the mirror, and returns it to its true source — the inner abyss. If there is a message behind the album, it is this: where there is a void, something will fill it. The choice of what that will be remains human.
