Polygons from Architectures by J S-Horseman

"Architectures" is a series of recorded spatial constructions which emphasizes a groupings of notes within a c' - c'' range of tuning fork pitches, their harmonic/interval relationships, and their reverberated responses from different interior settings. Initially motivated from intently listening to the qualities in my apartment basement, this project then evolved with a series of experiments conducted in several different rooms. Each composition forms a spectrum of sonic characteristics from up-close (gritty, warm, opaque) to distant but more transparent, cooler renderings of space. A dialog is generated between fundamental pitches created by hammered and bowed tuning forks , and a eclectic assortment of textural and percussive sources (Modular Synthesizer, tape manipulations, a metal bowl, radio noise, cracking egg shells, kalimba, and random basement objects). Architectures glues together these disparate spatial elements into a cubistic design of the given sound objects and the architectural shapes that surround them.
