Creativity is a bit of a pain to figure out, I mean at the end of the day what counts as a creative work? Are we all creative? To varying degrees, or to the same degree but just represented differently amongst each and every one of us? Who knows... who cares... No, wait.
I think creativity is one of the hardest things to pin down because it's something that seems both objective and subjective at the same time. There's a reason 99.9999999% of people would say Citizen Kane is a better film than Transformers 5, what is it about art and culture that makes one "better" than the other? Is money the key factor? Just having big budgets and large teams allow art to manifest amongst the vision? Let's replace those two films with say two books, most everyone would agree 1984 is a better book than 50 shades of grey. Now we're honing in on the distinction between good writing and bad writing, but who's to say what good and bad is, we like to say there's no rules when writing, but there clearly is, even if they're flexible rules and you can use your common sense, that's still a lot to take in. And this collection of Jonny Mozza talks goes into those rules, figuring out what common sense is, what even is creativity anyways, and what should we do about it?
