Occapella! by Jon Cleary

Playing R&B down here without referencing Allen Toussaint would be like trying to speak English without using the alphabet. I've played his tunes on so many gigs over the years with Ernie K-Doe, Jessie Hill and Snooks, amongst others, that when asked, "If you were to interpret the songs of another songwriter, who would it be?" Allen Toussaint seemed the obvious choice.

A few months back I started messing with an acappella version of "Occapella" just for fun and it wound up turning into a whole album. Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it!
