Sun God from South Dakota by Jonah Knight

This was the first song I wrote, back in 1993, that worked. It wasn't "great," but it follows basic rules of songwriting to be kinda catchy. I played it with my college bands Sometimes Y and Sandhead. People seemed to dig it.

That original version had some lyrics that didn't really stand up. I was trying to capture some kind of religious thing, but I don't think I really knew what. Plus, I was 18. What did I know anyway? They were much more vague than my lyric writing has become.

The lyrical changes here were an attempt to get this song to blend in with my newer, creepier songs. I think it works a little better, a little darker, but they're still messier that I'd like.

What exactly does "burn me on the radio" mean? I think I had a sense that if the word "radio" was in a song there was a greater chance of it being played on the radio. It didn't seem to work.
