After Midnight by Johnny Champagne

After Midnight EP is a dive into a confused yet perilously confident mind and based on a misunderstanding of love. I made and listened to this music every night between my midnight smoke break and stroll around the pond behind my parents' house backyard. The three songs take me from a heightened place of anxiety to a more lighthearted mood, and rocks me to sleep by the end of it. Making this music was therapy for me during last year of 2020.

The singer, rapper, producer and pianist is a musician's musician. His diverse background and many cultural influences make him just one example in the often overlooked nuance of Black America. He combines his Caribbean roots, suburban experiences, jazz/R&B sensibilities and Southern hip-hop culture to create Champagne Soul music.
