Sitting quietly in the late afternoon
listening to the rain
rolling down my porch roof
headed for the drain
It's just a quiet grey afternoon
late in the fall
but winter's coming all too soon
hard changes for us all
hard changes for us all.
Every winter brings its discontent, every blizzard I've ever met
every howling winter wind hides the promise of peace within
When the leaves have fallen and the branches are bare
the little creek has froze
when frost like icing clings everywhere
and you cannot feel your nose
I'll still be there beside you
waiting for the spring
when leaves have fallen just means they're coming back
good changes they will bring
