Mirror Mirror
Teaching young girls to look at themselves
Always comparing to someone else,
Who's prettier or thinner,
What makes them a winner
In life.
There's a whole generation of girls in their teens,
Who are influenced by Instagram and beauty magazines.
They could be reading books,
But they're focused on their looks.
What a shame!
They're told their body is their asset.
They have to use it if they want to get
An entry into a world governed by men
Mirror, mirror on the wall
It doesn't matter if I'm big or small,
Don't want to be the fairest, just want to be one of all.
I don't live to be the best,
It doesn't depend on how I'm dressed,
Life is not a beauty contest.
Why are our bodies sexualized, why can't we be free?
Just have a look around and you'll see
Women put in tight clothes
In ads and TV shows,
They're to blame.
Why don't we tell girls that sexy is smart?
They should let go of this beauty standard.
Each body is a unique piece of art.
Mirror, mirror on the wall
It doesn't matter if I'm big or small,
Don't want to be the fairest, just want to be one of all.
I don't live to be the best,
It doesn't depend on how I'm dressed,
Life is not a beauty contest.
