In the final hours until the glory has gone sour
I’ll be up here holding my lone flag
Waiting just to hear you call
You know I’ll always be your doll

Howling hard now to the wind
I hid your heartbeat deep in a tree
Down with the switchblade and my weed
But I’ll take you back when the morning bleeds
When the light cracks inside of me.

This ragged corner cell
Where memory turns to rust
And the prison guard is who I trust
I got your letter from the shore
And you don’t love me anymore

So I fool myself
I take chances walking on the knife
I know we don’t fit in this frame
At the same time

And I hate myself just for wanting
Just for wanting not to carry your old crutch
And all I find myself asking for
Is just a faint hint of your touch.

The morning table waits at dawn
The cup and my pen
Forgotten every person i’ve ever been
Yet my shadow stands at ten feet tall
And you know I’ll always be your doll.
