California Celt by Jesse Autumn and Friends

Traditional and modern jigs, reels, airs and songs from Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cape Breton and more, played by young musicians on the far away shores of the Pacific.

"California Celtic" is a recent, tongue-in-cheek term used to describe the cross-cultural sounds of Celtic music as played in and around the Bay Area in California. Many musicians have brought elements of West African music, Latin music, Eastern European folk, and even jazz into their interpretations of trad Celtic tunes, and this can be heard especially among harp players in the California folk harp tradition.

The California Arts Council sponsored this project with a grant in support of 18-25 year old artists working in ethnic arts traditions. We are immensely grateful to them for their support!
