i heard a noise downstairs
woke my parents
said that i was scared
they told me son
"its nothing but the night
now go to bed
and rest your head"

i had a grudge
some jerk at my school
good at sports
and breaking all the rules
i told him "kid,
you're not the coolest kid around"
and now i'm on the ground

and i just laid there a while

i saw a shrink today
i told her stories
she said that i'm okay
she showed me pictures
of ink blots on the page
now i'm in bed
i gotta rest my head

and i just laid there awhile
