I’m tearing out
the wallpaper
to find the original maker
sorting out the miscellaneous
digging up old drains
see what part of me still remains

unafraid to throw things away
separating all the messes that I’ve made
re-doing the living room
watching the cracks cower beneath my shoes

identifying troublesome ingredients
re-threading all the tapestries
tidy up the seeds that destruction leaves

finally facing the weaknesses in my window
wiping down the shelves
let the dust speak for itself
it brings our stronger selves

I can’t remember a time
that I felt this alive
I’ve got a new world to roam
but nobody’s gonna stop me
cos I’ve found elasticity

some people never change, but some do
a transformation can be of any size or any shape

fear, I wore it well
if you didn’t give it to me I’d look for it somewhere else
