Plinthesis #1 is the latest solo album by composer and sound collage artist Jared Blum. After years of collaborative work with Bill Gould (Faith No More), Dominic Cramp, Maxwell August Croy, and Jason Begin—exploring the outer edges of experimental and abstract sonic landscapes—Blum arrives at a compelling new crossroads.
On Plinthesis #1, he merges glitchy, broken, skittering sonics with melodic sensibilities, crafting a kaleidoscope of thick minimalism and fractured rhythms. The result is an evocative and immersive experience, where textural depth meets emotional nuance, and the boundaries of genre dissolve into something uniquely his own.
ABOUT
Jared Blum is a conceptual sound artist best known for his work in the Talking Book project alongside Billy Gould of Faith No More. He is also the sole composer behind the acclaimed, original 1980s-inspired library music compilation series Vision Heat. In addition, he co-composes in experimental duos such as FL∆PPs, Dorothy Cutler and several other projects that delve into the mystique of abstract sound collage and musique concrète.
Blum currently co-runs the independent label Klangwunder with fellow musician Dominic Cramp (known for his work as Dorothy Cutler, Borful Tang, and Lord Tang). Founded in 2024 following the closure of the influential Gigante Sound, Klangwunder now serves as the home base for both Blum’s and Cramp’s music. At Gigante Sound, Blum created music under a variety of aliases including Blanketship, Beaks Plinth, and Vulcanus 68.
Throughout his career, Blum has released work on notable labels such as Kool Arrow, Root Strata, and Epidemic Sound, and has composed music for film and video (The Eclipse 2022 and various ads for several ad agencies in the US.
His unique blend of experimental music—where texture, memory, and sonic fragmentation intertwine—stems from a personal drive to fill a creative void, crafting the kind of sound he wishes to hear in the world every day.
