"Indeed, we have been presented many times with genres laying claim to the future. Over the course of the 21st century thus far, we have seen the justifiable as often as the phony and fallacious, from sources running a vivid gamut from PC Music all the way over to hard rockers, yet we inevitably depend on the past as reference, as is natural order. The future doesn't exist: let's focus on future bass as an example. No matter how many undeniably new and creative Fast Fourier Transforms are performed, transforming sounds into metallic sludge and digitized fresh water alike, the roots of the underlying algorithm nonetheless date to 1805. The math is much more than just timeless: it's a transcendence of time itself, but in a way that intrinsically connects it to the present. Synthesis is history in the making, moving rapidly into the past. Future bass is synthesis; we will never truly miss the rage. We furiously push it forward no matter how marketable it becomes, just like anything else. Stay sexy, dear reader.
