Summerland by Jamboree

Inspired partly by the unconventional Winnipeg apartment complex of the same name -- two towers connected by a tropical greenhouse atrium that suspends summer indefinitely -- Summerland conjures its own endless summer that's always about to fall apart.

It's a collection of suburban visions of backyard pool parties, hot nights, bike rides, staring out the window of a friend’s car, wrapping the car around a tree, sweating through your sheets, winter is always around the corner and your party is getting shut down.

Written over a series of years and recorded over a period of months with producer Lino D'Ottavio in his basement studio, Summerland maintains the band's ramshackle rock glory while also feeling newly refined and ambitious. The album's 10 tracks find Jamboree stumbling reluctantly into maturity as songwriters and young men, becoming the band they've always wanted to be.
