‘Finus’ was the name my godfather. He was an elderflower wine farmer. As a kid, I spent the summers at the farm learning about life, jazz and how to make elderflower wine. Finus and his wife Marlene have been some of the dearest and most inspiring people in my life, always encouraging me to play music.
This single, dedicated to his godfather, is an elegant, unfolding saga on the Spanish guitar. Gurevitsch knows how to see the beauty in things and here his playing is more personal than ever.
You can hear a bit of latin jazz in the rhythmic shape. Melodies waltz through meadows swaying in warm breezes. All those moments, those tiny grains of memories and feelings, captured as they color the felt sense of a deep human connection.
Jacob Gurevistch has all his life been friends with guitars.
Since his pre-teens he has been pluggin' jazzguitars, rockguitars, soulguitars and many others into all kinds of amplifiers.
Then the Spanish guitar moved into Jacobs apartment and his life.
This deep friendship has resulted in music with passion from the south mixed with electronic flavours from the north.
