Lyrics
I worked in the call centre
I drove your deliveroo
I was a millennial amidst the raging wars
I will have no children
But I couldn’t afford them anyway
So I make my own angels as the snowflakes fall
When the banks collapsed they said
The crisis was just temporary
Fifteen odd years later I’m not feeling quite so sure
They said I needed a degree
Then they told me it was worthless
But I still foot the bill as all the snowflakes fall
I sat down with Occupy
I walked on the marches
We yelled that austerity would not stand any more
They sent in the riot cops
Backed up by the media
And now the streets are silent as the snowflakes fall
I played the game and voted
I even supported Corbyn
Believed him when he told me that the system could be reformed
The ruling class destroyed him
And shut us out forever
And so we roam the wilderness where snowflakes fall
I stood up for refugees
I stood up for trans folks
They called it cancel culture when we gave the bigots pause
I heard this was an island
of blissful moderation
But all I hear is dog whistles as snowflakes fall
Your kindness is not weakness
Your gentleness is not cowardice
Your search for a more caring world is not an empty cause
Yes you are a snowflake
Unique and frail and beautiful
But we can freeze hell over when upon it we fall
I can see it clearly now
Millions all together
Blizzarding through barbed wire fences, blowing down the walls
They can cling to power but they cannot stop the weather
Nothing will protect them when the snowflakes fall
