Interim Contingent by I Think Like Midnight

I Think Like Midnight were just about to begin recording their third full-length album of rockin' instrumental goodness when the pandemic hit. In fact, some of it was tracked in summer '20, but further work has been put on hold until the post-plague eventuality. For now everyone floats in an in-between-ness, a limbo land filled with asterisks. We thought our third album was going to be a big rock epic, but somehow we took a left turn and wound up on a rather unexpected planet.

Over the past few years ITLM have been quietly assembling recorded compositions using a very different process than their usual learn-it-as-a-live-band method. These recordings were, for the most part, composed "in the box," that is, in the computer, usually beginning with rhythm loops and then tracking guitar or keyboard improvisations and ambient textures, all of which then get cut up and reassembled. The ear worm melodies and general vibe is still very much ITLM, but as groovy electronica and a electronic-meets-guitar hybrid that travels through landscapes ambient, drone, blip, motorik, indie rock, and even a bit of twang. We're quite proud of how it all turned out and hope it can be psychically centering in crazy times.
