Afuebe was released in May of 2020 by Pindango Records Bobby Torres and Israel Annoh have known each other since 1988. Israel has played in Bobby’s band - off and on - for 10 years. “I always admired him as a great musician, Bobby recalls, “But, it was not until I heard him playing with another band that I realized the fully mastery of Israel’s skills. I decided then and there that I wanted to produce a CD for him. I pitched it
to Israel. He had not considered a solo CD. I encouraged him with my vision of the project. On the first day in the studio, Israel was feeling shy
about the project. I suggested that he start with a sequence we both had previously worked out with Alex Acuna who, a few years prior, was
featured guest artist on one my gigs (Bobby Torres Ensemble). Israel tried it, I recorded it and we were off and running. Once he heard how good it was, he was no longer hesitant. He realized how much he could contribute to the world and became inspired. Israels heart for the music poured forth as the project progressed. His musical ideas expanded with each recording session. It seemed that there may be no “off” switch with Israel. Finally, we achieved the culmination of all that work in Afuebe.”
