City Dead by Bryon Dudley & Ira Rat

City Dead was conceived as a tribute to the lo-fi, sleazy, and often-overlooked horror film scores of the 1980s—particularly those oozing out of the Italian underground. The project embraces analog imperfections, bad cues of old film scores, grim atmospheres, and pulpy tension. The soundtrack blends creeping synth lines with gritty guitar textures, creating a soundscape that feels ripped from a warped VHS copy of a forgotten cult slasher.

Guitar work was performed by Bryon Dudley, whose prog meets psychedelic playing style helped ground the project in its grimy cinematic roots. Ira Rat handled all synthesizer work, channeling decaying drum machines, eerie pads, and detuned pianos to summon the ghost of low-budget horror's golden age. Together, they built City Dead as both homage and hallucination—a love letter to flickering neon, rotting celluloid, and blood in the gutter.
