Lyrics
If I never let go of the story to which I cling
I’d never see just how faulty my perception of this life has been
Beginning at the end of all the inherent naivety
Story controls me
It’s a narrative that bludgeons the glimmer of confidence to death
But looking back it’s clear that I was betrayed by that soil that I cherished
Orphan of Tradition
Cultural remnants imprinted but not absorbed
Floating atop of the density of two worlds
The weight of the freedom is fucking exhausting
An orphan of tradition
Another night, another wasted light, I can’t sleep, lie awake
Was it my skin that fully sealed my fate?
I need to know if blending in was worthwhile
Wasted
And if it was my skin that fully sealed my fate, I have to be my own god
It’s what I see when I lie awake in bed, another night I can’t sleep
There is no one way that the whole world works
I have to be my own god
Disgust internalized
Deep within myself
And reinforced my time
The root cause
Reason why
that I have always felt this lacking nature of mine
I’ll build my own significance
A quarter of a century, I've clung to it
