BANDCAMP FRIDAY - Born Slippy: (sic) is a sonic exploration of the hollow truths and contradictory messages that permeate our modern society. Inspired by the work of media artist Jenny Holzer, particularly her Truisms series, the album draws from social media memes, myths, sayings, cultural studies, and the concept of "post-truth.". Track 6 features quotes from Guy De Bord & Mark Fisher. Track 7, Jean Baudrillard. Utilizing the "Scaper" plug-in for electronic soundscapes and AI-generated spoken word elements, Slippy delves into the complexities and contradictions of our collective consciousness. The music is often haunting and dissonant, reflecting the unsettling nature of the themes explored. Spoken word pieces, delivered in various voices and tones, interweave with electronic music to create a thought-provoking and immersive listening experience.

Born Slippy: invites listeners to question the "truths" we tell ourselves or hold dear and to consider how our collective consciousness is shaped by the messages we encounter. Whether or not you "believe" in any or all of the quotes on these tracks is not the point. The album's title references Derrida's concept of "différance," emphasizing the slipperiness and instability of meaning and how language can both reveal and obscure truths...as well as an Underworld song title pun. duh
