Appropriately released on Mischief Night 2012, (Also the night hurricane Sandy hit NJ; subsequently reeked havoc and knocked out power for the next 7 days), "Mass Noun" is Indifferent Spaces' 4th effort and the first to venture almost entirely into the depths of a realm left behind for ghosts. IS4 is an 8 track mini concept album of eerie downtempo trip hop beats and creepy abandoned vibes, complete with scratches and the heavy crackle of an old 78 record that drags continuously throughout the entire program. From the hypnotic "Some Light Through Some Window", to the foreboding and unnerving vibes of "In the Rosewood Living Room" and "Of an Unoccupied Secluded House", to the wickedly ominous "Without Lights on a Dark Day", all the way to the nostalgic relief of "Lined With Pines", 'Mass Noun' definitely has its own uniquely dark feel. Each song title, when read consecutively, creates one whole run-on sentence and describes a particular scene to which the music narrates. An exceptional, yet sometimes unsettling endeavor.
