Rocking Chair from cabin songs by Ilana Cameron

I had the honour of filming Robert Armstrong telling his life story so that he could share it with his family, just weeks later he passed away. His is one of many similar stories about those who came to the Creston Valley from Saskatchewan and other farming communities during the dust bowl days of the thirties to find a better life. This song is inspired by his story.

Born in the woods in the interior of BC she was raised in Vancouver but eventually made her way back to the mountains. After years of writing and performing regularly as a solo act and with bands Ilana is now mostly a coffee roaster for her company Lark though she also rides her bicycle or can be found experimenting in the kitchen or garden.
