Lyrics
i'm at the gas station cleaning the ashes (fragments of cigarette habits) from the backseat into the trash heap.
i met you at fourteen, pre-nicotine-between-my-teeth. our dreams were sweet: two art degrees in the city.
in the car there i found you:
- a pack of your tissues (the kind that you'd always keep with you)
- an orange mechanical pencil
i tremble.
that's the type of pencil you used to write all the letters in the drawers that i don't open anymore and the labels of mix CDs you gave to me on Valentine's day when i was seventeen, still inside my trunk next to the pamphlet from the art school i dropped out of.
what more can i say?
there's symmetry in pain too hard to explain.
