The instrumentals collection from UK producer Ed209’s Foreverexstatic album was originally released on 3 vinyl EPs between 2003-2007. To say this project has stood the test of time is an understatement, it is a true tour de force that still stands out 2 decades on for its high production value and unique sound. Along with the full vocal album, ed209 created a tracklisting for the instrumentals which is designed around a cinematic experience.
It is a massive honour to be able to reissue this material, the original files of which were luckily excavateable by ed209 and reassembled here for the enjoyment of the masses, especially fans of hardcore Hip Hop made by a dedicated craftsman.
From Ed209
Getting to put out the Exstatic EPs back in the 2000s was a privilege. Working with Capz, C-Mone, Konny, Eyez & Bomb on the vocals … with Mr Jago on the visuals and posters … with Mark ‘The Gambler’ on the production … everything came together to make it what it was and its something I’m eternally proud of. Hip Hop has moved even further away from its roots since that time but there will always be those who cook using the original recipe and keep the sound alive … I wanted what I did to be part of that. Massive thanks to Julia, Issy & Maddie and all those involved for the support … and lastly I’ve got to give my props to The P Brothers, especially Ivory, who got me hooked on the grey pads of the MPC and blazed a path that I followed. 15-10.
Final shout to Chris for diggin my beats out from history for a new generation.
