El Shaddai by Hydro Walkers

Dear person listening,

I reached a point in my life that I realized if I kept going, doing the things I had been doing, I would soon die. My dad died in his mid 30's and I was on the same path. I moved halfway across the country for a fresh start but my demons followed. Constantly drinking, using drugs, sleeping around and living a reckless life. One morning I found myself naked, curled up in a ball at my mom's house. I was going through withdrawals, shivering and sweating at the same time, experiencing one of the worst moments of my life. I had felt like I was near death before but this time was different. Over 10 years of living this life, I tried to quit before but it was just impossible. I now understood the demons my dad fought and why he lost. Addiction was a weight I could not carry. I had nothing at this point, no career, broken relationships, I had nothing, I was nothing and had no hope. The only thing I could think to do was go to church. I needed something more powerful than me, more powerful than drugs and more powerful than my demons. I found that God is more powerful than all of these things.

El Shaddai is a Hebrew word that means, "God Almighty" which points to the power of God. Some people will find themselves in a season of life that brings them to their knees. That they realize they need something, someone that's not in our realm of understanding but we acknowledge is the answer. I would encourage you, whether you're at your lowest, rock bottom, no hope and in tears or just feeling down, God is there for you. He will meet you where you are, love you and be the strength you need to pull you up. You don't have to hit rock bottom to turn to Him. No situation is too much, no sin is too great, He is the God of the universe and He cares about you.

Some scripture to encourage you, my favorite is in 2 Corinthians. This was a season of weakness for me, my life was a failure, my attempts failed and anything I did in my power failed but it was God, by his power that set me free. Now I can boast of His power in my life.
