Often times we get locked in on our beginning. Sometimes our beginning was a negative experience and so we hold onto a victim mentality and think that things will always be this way. Sometimes our beginning was good and so we hold on to this idea that somehow our best life is behind us. The thing about beginnings is that we get lots of new beginnings. Our lives aren't a movie with a beginning and an end, it's more like a book, with chapters, sequels, trilogies and more.
Alpha is a Greek word that is used to refer to the “first” or “beginning”. God used it to declare that He is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. In MY beginning, it would take years for me to see God. The war on my family started from birth. While my mom was pregnant, my father was in jail. He was fighting his own demons of alcoholism. You see, before I was even born, the enemy was already trying to steal from me and destroy my life. He was trying to take my parents away. My dad finished his sentence and when he returned, we started a new beginning where my mom was diagnosed with leukemia, a cancer of the blood. Each new beginning seemed worse than before. But looking back, I know God was there. He's never surprised and always right there in the midst of our suffering. Yes, it's painful, lots of questions arise, lots of emotions run high and God understands them all. He never looks away in shame, He never stops loving us. He uses every situation to strengthen us, to grow us, to build our character and to teach us to lean on Him. God is writing our story and if we will walk with Him, we can look forward to a victorious ending.
