The Voyage from Audiography by HUW
This opening track sets the tone for the LP; a mix of sampled textures, live instruments and a drum groove under the loops and layers. The flute line is the sound of a Mellotron, a tape based keyboard from the early 60’s. There is magic in that instrument, you press the keys and call back the breath of the original performer sampled from loops of hissing magnetic tape, a sample of a sample of a sample. The ghost in the machine.
