Huddyglo’s debut album, Innocent & High in Love, was released in 2017, and revolved around the struggle of several relationships around him. That album was, in many ways, a disjointed open diary to the world. Following that release, Huddyglo wanted to work on something more light-hearted, groovy, and playful, while still not shying away from deeper topics.
Musically, this EP draws from experimental trail blazers like Stereolab and Arthur Russell while retaining the pop sensibility of early CHIC records and Daft Punk. This was recorded over the course of three years, while moving between several studios and houses. The songs were recorded track by track by Huddyglo though overdubbing guitar, bass, and several synths and drum machines. The songs on Sports are dear to Huddyglo’s heart, and capture his immense love for the theory and history of classic songwriting and production.
