Red by hopenotic

Red is a set of original songs by hopenotic - recorded with the Venice Beach Ramblers. All based on ideas inspired by different colors.

"Red" is a blues through and through and has let me start to explore other arrangements of old blues tunes in my work.

"Colorless Green Ideas" is a dreamy tune dedicated to the great Noam Chomsky, the dream world, and the angel in Michael's apartment.

"Red River Valley" is a beautiful old folk song I resurrected. Bright and sad at the same time, this old song deserves to be heard. I'm passionate about keeping old songs alive so here is my quirky version, original author unknown, that is thought to have been written somewhere around the 1870s.

"Strawberry Moon" has a personality of its own. Maybe the sun has been following the moon, madly in love, for centuries? What if you were in love with someone for years and they never knew? Maybe you'll dance under the full moon to the sounds of accordion, guitar, and cajón...

"Crimson Lullaby" has a dreamy, hypnotic quality - lullabies for adults are one of my specialties. Enjoy my field recording in the mix of a beautiful chorus of frogs I stumbled upon in Ukiah, California.

"Ruby" is a song that was written and inspired by my trip to Montolieu and Saissac, France, July 2024. We spent the week in the south of France soaking in the peace and creativity of our community of artists. The little village of books and art holds a beautiful space in my memory.

All songs recorded and steeped in the old wood floor and harmonic vibes of Breakwater Records with Michael Jost on the famous Venice Beach Boardwalk.
