Uchidome by Seijiro Murayama

Seijiro Murayama is a Paris-based drummer, percussionist, improviser and composer. It was in 2009 that he first released CDs on the Ftarri labels Hitorri, Ftarri and Meena. He has since released over ten CDs of performances in solo, duo, trio and quartet formations.

"Uchidome," Murayama’s fifth solo album from the Hitorri label, consists of three tracks recorded in France in January 2025. All his drum solo albums are outstanding, and this CD, with its unique and inimitable performances, is no exception. Using mainly snare drum and occasionally weaving in bass drum and cymbal, he creates delicate, sensitive sound while incorporating numerous silences. Murayama has in recent years been placing equal weight on drums and voice performance, but here he makes extremely sparing use of voice, with the result that his incomparable drum playing can be savored fully throughout the album.

村山政二朗はフランス、パリ在住のドラマー / パーカッショニスト / 即興演奏家 / 作曲家。Ftarri の３つのレーベル Hitorri / Ftarri / Meenna から初めてCDをリリースしたのは2009年。それ以降、ソロ、デュオ、トリオ、カルテットの編成で10タイトルを超えるCDリリースがある。

『Uchidome』は、Hitorri レーベルから5作目となるソロ・アルバム。2025年1月、フランスで録音した3曲を収録。常にハイレベルのドラムス・ソロ・アルバムを発表する村山だが、本作においても、誰にも真似できない個性的な演奏を聴かせる。主にスネア・ドラムを使用し、時にハイハット、ベース・ドラム、シンバルを絡め、無音も多く取りながら繊細かつ感性豊かな音を生み出していく。近年はドラムス演奏と同等の比重でヴォイス・パフォーマンスを披露する村山だが、ここでのヴォイス使用はごくわずかで、全編にわたって村山の唯一無二のドラムス演奏を満喫できる。
