神戸出身のトラックメイカーtofubeats…の最も仲の良い友人として2008年から活動、数年のみの活動で姿を消してしまったアーティスト、dj newtown。2019年に活動11周年を祝い急遽復活した彼は今度は過去のディスコグラフィの整理に着手した。
彼が2009年にインターネットレーベルMaltine Recordsより人知れず発表し好事家を唸らせたクラシック「2005」。権利関係の問題でサブスクリプションなどに登場することは永遠に無いかと思われていたこのトラックが12年の時を経て遂に公式リリースとなった。ジャパニーズR&Bの傑作、嶋野百恵「レイトショウ」をサンプリングし作られた骨太なUKガラージは夜のダンスフロアを夢見る全ての人々に向けたメッセージ。
当時に制作されたtofubeats、okadada、909stateのリミックスの他、CE$とtofubeatsによるユニット$OYCEEとHercelotによる別バージョンも収録。
dj newtown- He was known as the closest friend of tofubeats. He released a few albums in 2008-2011 and went on hiatus. After a sudden comeback in 2019 to celebrate his 11th anniversary, he has now started to sort out his past discography.
In 2009, dj newtown released the Japanese classic 2step tune "2005" on the internet label Maltine Records. After 12 years, the track is now officially released, overcoming sampling issues. This song sampled the Japanese R&B masterpiece Momoe Shimano's "Late Show".
This reissue includes remixes for the original version in 2009 by tofubeats, okadada and 909state. Additionally, includes Hercelot's remix for dj newtown tribute in 2011 and $OYCEE's VIP version for outlook festival in 2015.
