Tick tock, heart stop, shell shock
Knock knock who's there?
Take your place on the pavement
You’re needed out there
Like a bomb in a scare.

Find a figure in a woodpile
Sneak him a nailfile
Catch a rabbit in the headlights
Try not to glare.
Does your mother know you’re creeping
When you should be sleeping?
Does your mother know you’re listening
When you should be upstairs?

Heaven sent you, no one meant you
You turn up but they still invent you
They’ve got your records and they’ve checked your dentures

Electrically chaired
Moonlight, sunlight, searchlight, spotlight, snared
Walk right, talk right, wear white
Be warned and beware
Don’t play on the stair.
