Stromboli is a small island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, off the north coast of Sicily, containing one of the three active volcanoes in Italy. It is one of the eight Aeolian Islands, a volcanic arc north of Sicily.

She moved to New Orleans in 2002, where she has developed an eclectic palette of experimental, jazz, folk, funk, pop and classical. Gillet’s solo performance is known for its enigmatic quality as each song is played with a mastery of live looping technology.
