consecrated virgin is a coming of age album that represents faith and loss. I made it to remember 2020 and the aftermath of returning home during the start of the pandemic. There was a lot that shifted that year and the most significant change I encountered l was leaving the Catholic faith.

There is not a lot about my identity which I consider solid. I have been uncertain of almost everything except for my faith or lack thereof. When I was religious, I knew dogmas like they were a part of me. Now that I am not, I feel similar in my sense of certainty in loss.

This summer, marked by the formation of this album, has been necessary in its grace. I have felt the heartbeat of the bloody earth in paths I incant through the dark. I have listened to the calls of cicadas and learned the meaning of their songs, the weaving wailing annunciations of necessary celebrations.

I hope that this album is as imbued with as much wonder as grief. Although I recognize that I can never go back to the same sense of naivety in faith and salvation, it is my choice to maintain my spirituality in forms that leave religious structures and transcend the ordinary. I hope this is present within my work.
