Rhoda Kemp embodies the true spirit of Appalachian Mountain Music. Born into a family of musicians and keepers of the musical traditions of this region, she is a living example of how this music is carried on and continues to thrive. Her unique contributions to the music have given her the title “Queen of Old Time,” and many attempt her famous clawhammer technique deemed the “Rhoda Rake.” But there will only be one Rhoda Kemp, and we are forever grateful for the ways she has shared her music with all of us.
