Originally released April 18, 2019 on 7form, a free-for-all style bandcamp page/label where I was given the username & password to upload however much I pleased. The works on the page were varying in quality and degree of effort, and I felt inspired to upload a massive archive of original improvised piano works to take people by surprised. Some folks did take a notice!
Since then this massive release, my largest "album"(?), has mostly become obscure. 7form is no longer active, and any sales received from the album on bandcamp do not go to me. The project has also been archived on archive.org by someone else, which is cool.
Here's the original description I wrote for the album back in 2019:
"An compilation of improvised piano works from 2015-2019. 80 tracks, total length a little over 6 hours. I invite you to download, add reverb / delay / whatever you'd want to make these your own. Been listening to these for years now, been in "the vaults", lots on the hard drive just a big jumble of files. Happy to have it all uploaded, just in one place. Many different moods, ideas, emotions / "moments" captured in these tracks. Enjoy listening, if you listen at all."
Now here it is again. Varying quality of the tracks here, both in my playing, the recording quality, and overall improvised compositions. I've always liked the idea of putting out an album of piano-focused material that is less improvised in nature, or just simply recorded better & incorporating some electronic elements perhaps. Unsure when that'll happen, but if I do, I'll definitely be taking some inspiration from this massive back catalog.
Legend was recorded mostly on the various phones and pianos I had access to 2015-2019, mostly at my high school, my dad's old place, even goodwill bins.
If you enjoy this and want more piano works from me, definitely check out "Forever", a direct follow-up to this album. Unlike Legend, "Forever" was recorded entirely using the DR-05 field recorder at my freshman year of college, 2019-2020. Also fully improvised piano works, although with a bit more consistency in quality.
