Sky Stories by Gregory Scheckler

Weather changes quickly, but Climate Change happens so slowly that it can be difficult to notice. This album is a meditation on this fast/slow changing pace of our attention and consideration, as related to the depths of our current knowledge about how we are changing our environments toward both predictable and unpredictable consequences. Here we find slow, beautiful, pensive music relying on semi-modular and modular synthesizers, electric and acoustic percussion, and field recordings of birds and wind, all set to quick or gradual, expansive changes. Released in celebration of Earth Day.

During Earth Month 2025, I am donating 95% of net profits from this album to the non-profits of The Planetary Society, the Society for Science, and the MCLA Foundation. Both the Planetary Society and the Society for Science support STEM education and promoting the understanding of science and the vital role it plays in human advancement: to inform, educate, and inspire. Meanwhile, the MCLA Foundation supports dozens of scholarships and many other initiatives, including the many arts, at the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (where I work as an art professor).

And all year long, as a contributing artist with Earth/Percent ( https://www.earthpercent.org/ ) I donate 5% of my net income from my art and music projects to environmental and science-oriented needs, to help offset the environmental costs of making music and art. Co-founded by Adam Callan, Hiroki Shirasuka, and Brian Eno, and advised by world-leading experts in science, academia and policy, Earth/Percent funds grants for effective organizations addressing climate and biodiversity emergencies. The goal of Earth/Percent is to create a healthy, equitable and livable planet for generations to come.
