I know it's not as easy as it looks.
If it was all as easy as it looks
We'd all have our name on a thousand great paintings
And a pile of erudite books.
We'd see OUR names up in lights.
Fortune and fame in our sights.
And whatever life decided to throw at us next...
We'd make it a success.

So when the ones with those perfect smiles
Get them wiped off their smug little faces once in a while
I have to admit
Just for a bit
I cry tears like a crocodile.
When the high and mighty fall
Like Humpty Dumpty from a wall
You might hear me mutter
"Welcome to the gutter!"
Now you can swim in the shit like us all.

Don't listen when they tell you they got where they got
From the sweat of their own brow!
As if the rest of us haven't spent our lives shoulder to the plough.

They'll talk about God-given talent
And finding that special touch...
But I say
Work and talent? Sure, both important.
But not as much as
Who you know
How you look...
and luck.

Everywhere you go you'll find the same.
Schadenfreude is the game.
Some say it's egotistic
Bordering on narcissistic
More a touch sadistic
Pretty pessimistic
I try to be altruistic
But let's be realistic...
My defining characteristic, some say
Is being
BITTER
and
TWISTED

...but hey....
It get's me through the day
