It’s a melancholy season, autumn.
Rain and mists alternate with a weakening sun and cold winds.
A scattered season.
An uncertain time.

I have tried to capture the feeling of walking through this season;
over the hills and through the forests of my adopted home, Norway.
The feeling of sitting inside listening
as the wind and the rain buffets our home.
Of the shortening days and the lengthening nights. Of the birds
gathering to leave, and the myriad mushrooms appearing only now for a few weeks or days,
to spore before sinking back to earth to await another year.
Of fallen leaves mulching and decaying
and of the smell of the wet soil.
The fall of the year.
