i was happy just being back there in the bar with my friends from the summer before
rick's fiancee and her sister were sitting with rick at a table not far from the door
john and i each grabbed a draft and then pulled up some chairs to chat with rick and his gals
i was headed to japan in a month but for the moment i wanted to hang out with some pals
i guess there must have been something attractive about me just being back in town for a while
songeun was laughing as we chatted while kyongeun and rick talked with john who was trying to smile

it'd never been so easy before
songeun just followed me out the door
across the park to a yogwan nearby
she was friendly and she sure wasn't shy

our first real date was to a film with robin williams in one of his more serious roles
somehow we kept on ending up in another cheap bed after each of our late drunken strolls
she played piano in her church on sunday mornings and had to care for her grandma at home
songeun was happy just to be out on the town with a nice guy who didn't want to leave her alone
i don't think i ever knew what i wanted but i certainly was getting enough
we weren't really that much of a couple, but together we made lots of love

she cooked me mandu guk at her place
and when we screwed she had a smile on her face
i blew a million won in three weeks
on drinks and beds it was some kind of streak

when i met someone else i knew in a minute that songeun had just been a fling
and when i asked her if she minded if i dated another gal she didn't say anything
there was no anger, no shouts or screams, there were no tears, it seemed like she didn't care
but when i left the bar that night to meet back up with my new gal songeun fell drunk down the stairs
